CSU’s New Scholarship Program Offers Top Dollars to Top Talent

NEwsReportUSC(Chicago, IL) – Effective August 19, 2019, Chicago State University (CSU) will offer scholarships to newly admitted qualified freshmen and transfer students.  The new scholarship program, named the Presidential Scholarship is competitive and aims to attract Illinois’ top performing students.

The Illinois General Assembly’s Higher Education Working Group, created the AIM HIGH program and the legislature funded $25 million dollars to help public four-year universities enroll and retain high achieving students. Of the total amount available to Illinois public universities, Chicago State University will receive $489,000 from the state and CSU will raise matching funds for a grand total of $978,000 of new scholarships for Illinois students.

“The AIM HIGH program is a major step in the right direction for public post-secondary education in Illinois,” said Zaldwaynaka Scott, President, Chicago State University.  “This investment by the state and the matching funds raised by Chicago State University will yield essential funding for the Presidential Scholarship thus providing access to higher education for students during the next academic year and for years to come.”

The Presidential Scholarship will cover up to 100% of college tuition and mandatory fees for qualified students that meet the income eligibility requirements; scholarships are renewable up to four years.

Criteria for CSU Presidential Scholarship:

First-time CSU freshmen who have earned a minimum 3.25 grade point average (gpa) and a 20 ACT or 1030 SAT or higher, have completed a Federal Student Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) and are Illinois residents would qualify.

Transfer students who have earned a minimum of 25 semester credit hours, have maintained a minimum 2.75 gpa, are Illinois residents and have completed FAFSA.

The CSU Presidential Scholarship can be combined with other University and/or external scholarships, thus assisting students in obtaining a debt-free education.  More information on financial aid and the CSU Presidential Scholarship is available at csu.edu.
