Guidelines for Conference
Papers, APA-Central SPSE sessions
Length: Max. 40 pages. Minimum 2 pages. Paper should not be longer
than what one would expect is a presentable conference paper (i.e., no longer
than, say, an average book chapter, or max 40 pages). You may submit paper
as short as 2 pages long.
Font size: Between 10 and 12.
Address: Please submit your paper to Alexander Makedon, Editor, The
Roundtable, at: MakedonA@aol.com as an email attachment.
Format: Please send your paper as an .rtf file, if possible (if you
know how to do this), otherwise as .doc file. If it is easier for you, you
may also copy and paste your paper within the body of your email (instead
of, as an email attachment).
Style: It is up to the author to decide which style of referencing
sources he or she would like to use, or whether to have footnotes or endnotes,
or both, so long as referencing style is one of the acceptable academic styles,
and remains consistent throughout the paper.
Referencing: To faciliate the conversion of an author's paper to a
web document, it is preferable, although by no means required, that authors
(a) use available wordprocessing software, preferably MS Word, to write their
papers in electronic format; and (b) number their footnote or endnote
references using the reference insertion function of their software, than
inserting them manually (such as, manually inserting footnote or endnote
reference numbers). If authors insert references manually, it becomes very
time consuming to convert them one by one to web format by hand. In such
cases, there is a strong possibility that such papers may have no hypetext
reference links when posted on the web site (readers would have to scroll
down to read footnote or endnote references, instead of clicking on the reference
number to be automatically taken back and forth between text and reference).
Timeline: The Editorial Board does not begin to review submissions
until after the April conference each year, and will only consider papers
for publication submitted by presenters who actually presented their work
at the SPSE sessions. Deadline for submission of papers: June 15 of that
year. Authors will be notified of the decision of editorial review board
by August 15 of the same year. All decisions are final. If editorial board
asks author to revise his or her paper, it will offer specific recommendations
for such revision. All revisions are due by September 15 of the same year.
Rationale: Please

rationale for The Roundtable. All policies regarding The
Roundtable may change without notice, depending on decisions taken by
Society, or its representatives. Such policies will be made available on
the SPSE web site as soon as possible.
Guidelines for News Articles
and All Other Publications
News Items: News items should be submitted to either Allan Johnston
or Guillemette Johnston, News Editors, either embedded in email message,
or as email attachments. Email:
ajohnst2@depaul.edu,
gjohnsto@depaul.edu
Font size: Between 10 and 12.
Format: Please send your news item or publication either embedded
as text in your message (instead of, as an email attachment); or as an email
attachment as an .rtf file, if possible (if you know how to do this), otherwise
as .doc file.
Style: Item-specific or none, just make sure that if you are
sending text , it is readable with correct grammar and spelling. If you are
sending any other digital document (photos, and the like), please make sure
they are designed in a form that can be easily opened with available software.
Photographs: No photograph(s) of any person, or similar images that
are not in the public domain, will be published without the express permission
by such person to do so (usually, by signing a release document).
Unsubstantiated Claims: All news items should be news-worthy, published
at the discretion of the Editorial Board, pre-approved by the SPSE Executive
Board where necessary, and of academic interest to the membership. No
unsubtantiated or irrelevant claims or information will be published.
Timeline: The News Editorial Board reviews submissions on a first
come-first served basis. Some news items may have to be cleared by the SPSE
Executive Board, depending on their claims or content, prior to publication.
If editorial board asks author to revise his or her submission, it will offer
specific recommendations for such revision. |
