Treasurer's Report

Nov. 12, 2006

Previous balance as of the last Treasurer’s report $4209.34 (includes registration fees collected and expenses paid for the 2005 conference). I was not able to deposit the AuthorHouse check for $72.00 mentioned in the report because Credit Union 1 would not accept a third party check. Alex Makadon will contact AuthorHouse for a replacement.

On Nov. 7, 2006 I deposited $474.38 from Alex Makedon for the royalties he received for the Proceedings. Alex will investigate having the publisher issue future royalty checks to the Society. Including the $72.00 still pending, the Society received $546.38 for the proceedings.

Checks written on Nov. 8:

1014 $100.00 to Jeff Thibert for the 2005 Michael Oliker Award

1015 $100.00 to Sara Shrader for the 2005 MPES Graduate Student Award

1016 $50.00 to Anindya Sen for the 2005 MPES Graduate Student Award (co-winner)

1017 $50.00 to Omer Avci for the 2005 MPES Graduate Student Award (co-winner)

Balance before the conference: $4383.72

2006 Conference receipts and expenses:

The society received $1740.00 in conference registrations, plus $100.00 for the 2006 Oliker award.

Expenses:

$411.57 for morning coffee and pastries on Friday and Saturday (Oliker)

$7.92 for miscellaneous office supplies (Oliker)

$43.68 for Xeroxing (Makedon)

Total $463.17

Projected account balance : $5760.55

Future receipts:

Conference registrations from three participants who were not able to pay at the meeting.

$72.00 from AuthorHouse royalty check that was not deposited

Additional royalties from sales of current and new proceedings

Future expenses:

$100 checks to the 2006 graduate student award winners, and 2004 graduate student winners. I don’t have any record that any award checks were sent for that conference.

$??? for the next proceedings.

$??? For ISBN for e-journal

At the business meeting I recommended that the treasurer move the account to a commercial bank accessible to him/her and the next president, who should be added as a co-signer, according to the Society‘s Constitution. This proposal was accepted, and I will move the account after depositing the conference proceeds and the outstanding checks have cleared. I will also contact the IRS about the Society’s name change so the account will have the new name of the Society.

Respectfully submitted,

Marge Oliker

Treasurer
