Upward Bound Program

Mission Statement

Project F.A.M.E Upward Bound and Upward Bound II are programs that seek to contribute to the cultivation of future leaders by providing high school students with a variety of academic, leadership, and cultural enrichment opportunities designed to generate high levels of achievement in precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.

The Upward Bound programs are pre-collegiate initiatives sponsored by Chicago State University and funded by the U.S. Department of Education since 1983. The two Upward Bound programs serve approximately 180 high school students annually. Upward Bound works with students who have the desire and potential to attend college, but need supplemental academic support and college-readiness services to help them realize that potential.

What Are the Expectations of Upward Bound Students?

Upward Bound students must be committed to the successful completion of high school and college. Participants must be willing to work hard towards that goal, have a sincere desire to expand their knowledge, and demonstrate perseverance.  Preparing for college requires a PERSONAL COMMITMENT.
