Ryan Green

Ryan C. Green was named Chief of Staff to the President of Chicago State University in July of 2018. As the Chief of Staff, Green serves as the top advisor to President Z Scott and as her liaison to key groups both inside and outside of the University. Green is also responsible for the operations, strategic planning, government and community relations activities and oversees all staff in the Office of the President. In his role as Chief of Staff, Green supports the Board of Trustees, with the primary responsibility of facilitating matters relating to governance of the university as carried out by the Board.

Green has more than a decade of experience in government, law, business, finance and commercial real estate. Prior to his appointment at Chicago State University, Green was an attorney with law firms including Winston & Strawn and Mayer Brown, and he served as General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS), the administrative arm of the Illinois government. As General Counsel of CMS, Green led a team of 20 lawyers supporting administrative operations, personnel, procurement, labor, property management, benefits, finance and information services.

As a progressive civic leader, Green has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star and is a distinguished alum of the Chicago Urban League’s IMPACT Leadership Development Program. He is a member of several professional organizations including Lambda Alpha International, an honor given to distinguished professionals who contribute to the enrichment of urban and rural environments through land economics.

Green earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics, with highest honors, from Emory University.
